Meet the Bun

Meet the Lady

Grumpy aka "Bertie McBean" is a French lop by nature and a bunny jam packed with disdain. Hailing from Cleveland, OH, he was saved from a hoarding situation and relocated to Indyclaw Rescue in Indianapolis, IN. One fateful day, he was adopted by a lady (me!) and meandered to Louisville, KY. His knack for traveling and zest for life, blew him upstream to Bellevue, KY where he currently resides. He is a free range rabbit who loves acoustic music, the smell of feet and apples.

"The Big, Brown Bunny that Can't/Won't Hop" is an illustrative children's book. It explores the difference between can't and won't through the eyes of a crotchety rabbit's point of view. Bertie McBean is a rabbit, but he can't hop. He's a bunny set in his ways and he's not changing anytime soon...unless the deal is sweet enough...

Monica Laake Beavers grew up at the foothills of the Ohio River born with a love for animals. Her pet rabbit, Grumpy aka "Bertie McBean" (his stage name), became the inspiration for her book day one of his adoption. With his unique (crotchety) personality and her passion for personification, the story wrote itself. Beavers currently resides in Kentucky with her husband, Justin, also known as the "Rabbit Handler Extraordinaire."
